It's Not Complicated

He then answered, "Whether He is a sinner, I do not know; one thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see." - John 9:25 (NASB)

Simple is better! No, this is not an AT&T commercial, but we do have a tendency to complicate many things in faith. The story represented in the verse above is a great illustration. Jesus was doing what He always did, namely loving, teaching, and healing. This is where he meets this unnamed man who had been born blind. Like many of his day, the man apparently spent much of his time begging on the roadside for money and food. Jesus sees the man and proceeds to heal him. The manner in which heals him is pretty wild, for Jesus spits onto the ground, makes some mud with it, smears it on the man's eyes, and tells him to go and wash it off. As the man did what Jesus instructed, his eyes were miraculously restored. This was on Sunday, and the Pharisees did not like the fact that Jesus was "working" by healing the man. So, in an effort to entrap Jesus, they approached the man about the events that had just taken place. They did not like his answer, so they pressed him further, "one thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see." This man did not quote one verse of Scripture in telling of Jesus; all he knew for sure is what Jesus did for him.
I have seen grown men and women crushed under an avalanche of fear at the mere thought of witnessing to someone else. You do not have to memorize fifteen verses of Scripture on salvation, although that might help. Witnessing is just telling someone what Jesus did in our lives. Let me state that last part again, witnessing is just telling someone what Jesus did in our lives. Has Jesus saved you? Healed you? Restored your marriage? Provided for you supernaturally? Given you hope and peace? Has Jesus done anything in your life of any consequence? Then tell somebody.
It's really not complicated after all.

  1. Not hard at all. Just tell people the peace you have, but you must be truly saved to share the benefits! Good job, be encouraged Kyle.

  2. Simple is better. Our lives should plainly speak for us. We just went out today to witness and it's easy. Just remember, when you knock on doors (no I'm not JW), the first door is the hardest. After that, it's easy.
